1. What ChatvSU Is
ChatvSU is an independent student project. It is NOT officially affiliated with, endorsed by,
or sponsored by Cavite State University (CvSU) or any of its campuses. The name "ChatvSU" is used informally
and does not represent an official CvSU service.
2. What We Collect & Why
In compliance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), we are transparent
about the personal information we process:
Information collected:
• Your CvSU email address — used only for verifying your student status. It is never
displayed to other users.
• Firebase UID — a unique identifier assigned by our authentication system.
• Display name (nickname), avatar, campus, department, age, gender, year level — profile info you voluntarily
provide.
• Chat messages, forum posts, and comments — content you create on the platform.
• Local storage data — your login session, theme preference, and UI settings.
How we use it:
Your data is used solely to provide the platform's features: chat matching, profile display, the community
forum, and your friend list. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third
party.
3. Limited Anonymity
ChatvSU lets you use a nickname instead of your real name when interacting with other users. However, you
should understand that:
• You are anonymous to other users, but not to the platform.
• Your Firebase UID is linked to your account and associated with your content.
• If required for safety investigations, legal compliance, or law enforcement requests, your activity
can be traced back to your verified email.
Do NOT assume absolute anonymity. This platform does not guarantee it.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
• Chat messages are stored to enable the chat history feature.
• Forum posts and comments persist until you or an admin deletes them.
• Profile data persists as long as your account is active.
• You may request deletion of your personal data by contacting the developer. We will process your request
within a reasonable time frame, subject to any legal retention requirements.
5. Your Rights Under RA 10173
As a data subject under Philippine law, you have the right to:
• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct — update or fix inaccurate personal data.
• Erase — request deletion of your personal data.
• Object — object to certain processing of your data.
• Complain — file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) if you believe your
data privacy rights have been violated.
To exercise these rights, contact the developer via the information in Section 11.
6. Code of Conduct
You agree NOT to:
• Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users.
• Share sexually explicit, violent, or illegal content.
• Dox or reveal another user's personal information.
• Impersonate other students, faculty, or CvSU officials.
• Attempt to bypass email verification or security measures.
• Spam, flood, or abuse any platform feature.
• Use the platform for commercial purposes or scams.
7. Content Moderation
The platform developer reserves the right to:
• Remove any content at any time, without prior notice, for any reason including but not
limited to violations of these terms.
• Suspend or ban accounts that violate the Code of Conduct.
• Review reported content and take action as deemed appropriate.
Decisions on content removal and account suspension are at the sole discretion of the platform developer.
8. Limitation of Liability
ChatvSU is a student project provided "as is" and "as available" without
any warranty, express or implied. The developer:
• Is not liable for any interactions between users, including but not limited to emotional
distress, harassment, or disputes arising from conversations.
• Is not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or security breaches beyond reasonable
control.
• Does not guarantee uptime, data accuracy, or uninterrupted service.
• Makes no guarantee of safety. You use this platform at your own risk.
You are solely responsible for your interactions and the content you share.
9. Non-Affiliation
ChatvSU is an independent student project. It is not officially endorsed, sponsored, managed,
or affiliated with Cavite State University, its administration, faculty, or any official CvSU body.
All opinions, content, and interactions on this platform are those of individual users and do not represent
CvSU in any way.
10. Changes to Terms
These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of ChatvSU after changes constitutes acceptance of the
revised terms. Major changes will be communicated via platform announcements.
